DubMeNow Brings The Virtual Business Card

DubMeNow

A new way to do business cards is using the mobile application DubMeNow. You can hand out your business card in the traditional way or you can think green and go paperless. The idea behind DubMeNow is to collect and immediately use your information on the go and always in sync. If you are at a meeting, social gathering, conference or any event you can use your mobile phone to make contact with a new person by entering the information in your mobile phone. This keeps the moment social and provides immediate follow-up because an email is sent to the individual requesting them to join you on DubMeNow, which also provides a way to contact you in the near future.

The latest release of DubMeNow, version 1.06, also adds some new features that are attractive to the social media savvy where you can send out a message to microblogging service Twitter when you have received your contact’s information. This may be a genius way to promote that you both use the application and have others interested in sharing with you for business. The mobile application is now available on all mobile phones including the iPhone and Blackberry. The iPhone version has been added to the iPhone application store and is ready for immediate download! Another great business use is for CRM applications such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SugarCRM and Seibel. A few upcoming integrations include Linkedin which DubMeNow has partnered with, as well as, Google, Microsoft, and RIM.

So what are you waiting for, go DubMeNow!

DubMeNow Launches on All Mobile Phones

The Best Way to Exchange and Keep Contact Information Current and Up-to-Date

Washington, DC—DubMeNow, the patent-pending technology that allows you to instantly exchange (via text or email) contact information (email, phone, company, address, title, etc.) from mobile phone to mobile phone, is now available on all US based phones. DUB loads contact data directly into the user’s mobile address book and automatically updates their address book whenever the contact’s information changes.

DUB eliminates the need to swap, save, enter or update any more business card data. You can also ‘tag’ or note information about the contact and see when and where you met on Google Maps. New features include:

  • DUB ID –your unique username or identifier allowing you to exchange information without having to give out your mobile number or email address.
  • Group DUB – the ability to exchange contact information with multiple people at once during a meeting, conference, seminar or other large group gathering.
  • Google Maps – Never forget where you met someone again – this feature loads the location and address where the invite took place into your contact’s information.
  • CRM Integration — Dub now sync’s with Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SugarCRM and Siebel.
  • Twitter – DUB invites displayed on Twitter.

“Our goal was to develop a tool that would allow people to easily keep track of their business and personal contacts,” said Manoj Ramnani, Founder and CEO of DubMeNow. “We developed a better way to communicate, network and exchange contact information – eliminating the need to keep track of business cards and then ultimately do something with them.”

DubMeNow partnered with Microsoft, Google, Salesforce.com, RIM and LinkedIn on the technology.

“DUB is a tremendous tool and we’re excited to have it on Windows Mobile and Microsoft Dynamics CRM platforms. I was impressed with how easily DUB integrated into our environments” said Dave Drach, Managing Director of Microsoft’s Emerging Business Team.

How does DUB work?

  • Using the DUB application on your mobile phone, simply invite the contact using their email, mobile number or DUB ID. Upon acceptance, your contact data loads directly into their address book and vice versa. DUB syncs with Outlook and CRM applications like Salesforce and Siebel.
  • The contact data is always kept current. Any changes you make to your DUB card (email, phone, job, address, etc.) are automatically updated to your DUB contacts and any changes your DUB contacts make are instantly updated to your address book. DUB contacts are simply always current.

A feature rich version of DUB is currently available on all smart phones, including BlackBerry, GPhone, iPhone and Windows Mobile. Any mobile phone with text messaging can also use DUB via text messaging.

Ashton Kutcher And A Qik Shot of Social Media

Posted by Gripfactor | Mobile Technology, Social Applications, Social Media | Sunday 22 February 2009 3:20 am

Ashton Kutcher decided to share his video of testing an updated version of Qik from his mobile phone. You can hear the sound from TweetDeck , an application used for Twitter, in the background as he films wife Demi Moore, who is also at her Mac using Twitter. The brilliance in this is the free plug for Qik.com. No Paparazzi, no reporters, no stalkers. Just two people doing what the rest of us do. They are fun to follow on Twitter!

Have You Read Facebook’s New Terms Of Service

Posted by Gripfactor | Facebook, Social Networking | Sunday 15 February 2009 8:58 pm

Facebook

When was the last time you read the TOS for any site? According to Chris Walters the Facebook Terms of Service have changed and basically give’s Facebook the right to use your content as it deems fit, even if you cancel your account. I agree with some of the comments made on the blog post: just assume if you upload it, share it, write it, like it, or create it and you don’t own the server…its out there forever and open for the viral at heart. Or, in typical geek-think, RTFTOS.

Going Mobile With Google Spreadsheets

Posted by Gripfactor | Mobile Technology, Technology | Sunday 15 February 2009 8:00 pm

Google has opened the gates to access and use Google Docs spreadsheets via a mobile device. This is a great feature that opens the possibilities of maintaining your personal finances, shopping lists/comparisons, work on the go, or maybe even manage your guest list for an event using the forms feature (great for event promoters and planners). It works for both Google and Google Apps accounts.

I was initially excited and thought I would give it a test run, however, somehow the Blackberry was left in the cold. I can say at least T-Mobile is on the map with the G1 and probably because its a Google device, but as always, the ever popular iPhone makes the list. Also included is the Nokia S60 and iPod touch. I hope they get this going for the Blackberry users soon.

Take on Syncing Facebook Events with Google Calendar

Posted by Gripfactor | Facebook, Social Networking | Sunday 15 February 2009 3:54 pm

I’ve been using the method of syncing Facebook events in my Google Calendar for some time now. I find it easier to manage events that I want to attend and see it with my regular calendar. The one thing I don’t like is when you have event invites and you choose “not attending” it still shows up in the feed. In order to get it off the feed and calendar you have to go into the event and choose “remove from my events” link. This adds more work than necessary when you are trying to streamline your productivity efforts. One way I found to test a different solution to this is 30boxes, which also integrates with Facebook. You have to try both to see what works for you. Check out the insidefacebook.com blog post for the step-by-step instruction.

Come out to DC Twestival at Local 16 and “Tweet.Meet.Give” with other Twitter fans! Its not just about Twitter considering the guestlist. You could meet with local Technology startups, business executives, and social media enthusiasts.

In Depth:

Twestival! “What the heck is that,” you say? Its a one day event organized by Twitter users bringing awareness to a global crisis of unsafe drinking water and its uses in developing nations. The chosen charity to help do something that would bring a better water solution to these countries? Charity: Water. If you are on Twitter, the popular microblogging social network, you know it does not take much to get a group of people together to share and support ideas, solutions, and make things happen! Twestival will bring together 175+ countries to funds and awareness through global volunteer efforts using the reach of Twitter, the enthusiasm of people and the non-profit Charity: Water.

If you enjoy drinking clean water, as clean as most cities can provide, having a latte that starts with clean water, the luxury of taking a clean shower or even having water in your residence, consider this: more than 1 billion people are not so fortunate to have the simple element of clean water at their disposal. There are no bottles of Evian, Voss or Deer Park to turn to as a safe means of drinking water. There are no wells the local people can rely on to provide water systems that would go to a home or shcool. Twestival plans to make us aware and offer small donations that Charity: Water will then use to bring opportunities for wells and clean water to these countries where women and children walk miles to get to a water source for daily living requirements. We can help, starting with Twestival! See you there.
